What is Forex?
Forex is the buying and selling of currency pairs, the most popular being the US dollar and the Euro: USD/EUR. It is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world with a daily trading turnover of more than $5 trillion. It’s one of the most popular markets for new traders as it is volatile without being too wild.
What are pips?
A pip is the name given to the decimal figure that represents every price movement in the foreign exchange market. If you’re trading the British pound against the US dollar and the price moves from 1.3048 to 1.3049, the price has moved by one pip. These decimal points are essential in forex trading as they allow traders to make big profits or losses on what are relatively small changes in the price in real terms. This is especially true when you are using leverage.
What is margin?
Trading on margin means that you are able to increase your position size by using leverage. If you made a trade with a leverage of 50:1, for example, you would only need to invest $10 in order to open a $500 trade. Margin trading can magnify both profits and losses.
Do I have to keep a trade open for a specific amount of time?
No, you can close a trade in the next second after opening it if you like. You are in complete control of your trades at all times.
Why is the price changing as I look at it?
As the price reflects market movements as they are happening in real-time, it is normal for it to be changing before your eyes, particularly in the more volatile forex and crypto markets.
